Celebrate Welcoming Week this September!
Welcoming Week is an annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate the people, places and values that help everyone feel welcome and give them a sense of belonging in their local community, no matter where they come from.
We recognize the important work of many immigrant settlement organizations in this space. Welcoming Week is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of these activities.
Hamilton Welcome Event
Join us for a welcoming information fair where you can connect directly with local service providers and community organizations. Learn about the programs, tools, and resources available to help you settle in Hamilton!

Location: Central Library – Floor 4, 55 York Blvd (Jackson Square)
Here is what you can expect! 
Meet representatives from 15+ organizations supporting newcomers Attend presentations on banking, Ontario Works, and tenant rights Take part in a library tour and discover what resources are available
Registration is encouraged but not required.
Stories of Migration and Belonging Writing Workshop
As part of Welcoming Week, we are hosting a 2-hour writing workshop, facilitated by KEETUP, that encourages participants to share their personal migration story.
The workshop begins with a warm welcome and icebreaker using visual prompts, followed by story mapping and guided writing exercises. Participants share in small groups, reflect on belonging today, and conclude with a closing circle to celebrate learning and connections.
Registration is required. This workshop is limited to 15 spots.

Time: 5:00 – 8:00 PM
Location: Visitor Experience Centre – 28 James St. N. (Lister Building at King William St.)
This workshop is great for people (16 years of age or older) with:
Lived experience of migration: This includes newcomers or long-term immigrants of any immigration status.
An interest in storytelling: This workshop is open to writers of ALL levels, including beginners!
