The SPRC has partnered with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation to host the “Our Canada” full-day workshop. The workshop is directed toward professionals who are leading diversity about inclusion initiatives either at a grassroots level or corporately.
Living Together is an invitation to everyone – individuals, community and faith leaders, academics and diversity champions – to explore Canadian values and identity, and contribute a vision for Hamilton – and Canada. The Symposium is an opportunity for people from diverse communities to get to know more about each other. It is a time to listen, share and reflect – and to work together to create a vision for an inclusive, harmonious community.
The immigration strategic planning day will bring together community partners for the development of a new 5-year Action Plan for the Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC). A recalibration of the current Immigration Strategy will ensure that HIPC continues to successfully support the integration of newcomers to Hamilton and the creation of a welcoming community.
Outside Hamilton’s City Hall, a major winter storm was brewing and it was bitterly cold. The snow was piling on thick, but that did not stop community members from gathering to welcome Hamilton’s newest residents from Syria and other countries. The #WelcomeRefugees information fair was in full swing.
The excitement was contagious as Abdirahman put his skates and helmet on. Grabbing the red skate trainer tightly, Abdirrahman could hardly wait to get on the skating rink. Once on the ice he was a little nervous at first, but soon broke into a beautiful smile as he discovered the joys of skating for the very first time!
